“This show is all about summer which to me, means colour!”, Brad Ngata. The brief was to work with the illusion and reflection of light in the desert to create a mirage. “I painted the girls’ hair in glitter using varying shades; nude with gold,
bronze with gold, pink and red. The colours were blocked together to create a reflective surface for a show-stopping effect. As the models walked, their hair changed colour in the light, just like a mirage”.

Achieve the look

1. Slick the hair back into a low-set ponytail using Tecni Art Fix Max gel to hold
every hair firmly in place. Twist the ‘tail’ tightly and wrap it into a tight bun at the
nape.
2. Set the hair using a hair dryer with a diffuser nozzle attached. This will ensure
there are no flyaways and the low setting dries the hair gently.
3. Spray a non aerosol hairspray (Tecni Art Fix Design fixing spray) to the hair to
set it into place.
4. After mixing glitter in a bowl with Tecni Art Fix Max gel, I ‘painted’ it onto the hair with a brush. The tonal effect of using two colours meant the colours could fade into each other from the bun to the hairline for a brilliant reflective effect.

To raise awareness and support for the WA AIDS Council, STYLEAID is the largest charity fashion event on the Perth calendar. Our L’Oréal Professionnel Products Division, in conjunction with the L’Oréal Hairdressers Against AIDS Foundation, supported the event with backstage teams, product, donations and stylists.

Held on Friday 29 July and for the 14th year running, the who’s who of Perth’s Fashion Industry gathered at the Burswood Entertainment Complex to partake in an Opulent fashion extravaganza.

The runway showcased an opening show featuring Vivienne Westwood (presented by Dilettane boutique) and was followed by the Spring/Summer collections of Perth designers such as Aurelio Costarella, Morrison, Flannel and One Fell Swoop. L’Oréal Professionnel hair stylists from around Perth came together backstage to create Avant Garde styles that wowed the fashion savvy audience.

Hairdressers Against AIDS is an advocacy program sponsored by the L’Oréal Fondation D’Enterprise and UNESCO empowering salon professionals worldwide to use their unique relationship to clients and communities to become a resource to interact, educate and help prevent the spread of AIDS.

The program acknowledges that talking is a powerful tool in the prevention of HIV/AIDS. By having open and honest conversations and learning the facts, you can dispel myths and rumors and help prevent the spread of misinformation.
